Care & safety
Care
Wash with mild soap and lukewarm water after each use, dry fully, then store in its pouch. Stone can chip if dropped. When warming or cooling, avoid sudden extreme temperature changes and always test the temperature on your skin first.
Safety
Don't use over broken skin, active breakouts, sunburn, rashes or recent injections or procedures. Use very light pressure on the front of the neck. If you bruise easily, take blood thinners, are pregnant or have a medical condition, check with your healthcare provider first. Light pinkness is normal, this is blood flow.
The anatomy
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps and links every muscle in the face and body. Gua sha works on muscle and fascia. As tension releases, it supports the movement of lymph and blood through the tissues. For dedicated lymphatic drainage, pair it with The Lymphatic Brush. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, gua sha is used to move qi (energy) and blood.
FAQ
Can I use it hot or cold?
Yes. Nephrite holds temperature well. Warm it for relaxation or cool it for a refreshing, de-puffing feel.
Do I need an oil?
Yes. Oil lets the stone glide without dragging the skin.
Is gua sha the same as lymphatic drainage?
Gua sha works on muscle and fascia, and as tension releases it supports the movement of lymph and blood. For dedicated lymphatic drainage, we recommend The Lymphatic Brush.
Why does my stone look different from the photo?
Natural stone varies in colour and markings.
