Guides FAQ
What are the Inner Beauty Shop guides?
In-depth, practical guides to the tools and practices we carry, written by our Toronto team. Each guide covers what the practice is, how it works in the body, how to use it on the face and body, how often, safety, tool care and how to choose your tool.
Which guide should I start with?
Start with what you're noticing. For tension in the jaw, neck or shoulders, begin with the Gua Sha Guide (RELEASE). For puffiness or a heavy, sluggish feeling, begin with The Lymphatic Brush Guide (FLOW). Many people use both, and there's no set order.
What's the difference between gua sha and lymphatic drainage?
Gua sha works on muscle and fascia to help release tension. Lymphatic drainage uses a very light, rhythmic touch that moves the skin to support lymph flow. The Lymphatic Brush is designed for lymphatic drainage. Each guide explains its practice in detail.
Are these guides medical advice?
No. They're educational, based on how the body works, traditional practice and each tool maker's own instructions. If you're pregnant, have a medical condition or are receiving treatment, check with your healthcare provider first.
Which guide is coming next?
Facial reflexology, including how to use the JVR Facial Reflexology Detector by Jackie Van Ruler. We'll keep adding guides as we add new tools and practices.
